Dia de los Muertos, literally the Day of the Dead, is a national holiday in Mexico that celebrates the memories of friends and family that have passed away. It is traditionally celebrated on November 1st in connection with the Catholic holidays of All Saints Day and All Souls Day occuring on November 2nd.The celebrations include the building of alters adorned with sugar skulls and marigolds to symbolize the dead. There are several fiestas and carnivals around the Southland each year, here are a few in SoCal for 2013.
