The Eat Real Festival at Oakland’s Jack London Square (every year in September) is all about street food, fresh summer produce, food competitions, chef demonstrations, live music, dance performances, handcrafted local beers, and ice cream sold from the back of a bicycle. The event is free and the food is oh so affordable. Think state fair, street-food fest, and block party rolled into one fun event.
At the Eat Real Festival, participants learn where food comes from, who grows and makes it, and how they make it. Eat Real Festival attendance is 100% free of charge, all food at the festival costs $5 and less, and all food incorporates regionally-sourced, fabulous, and sustainably-produced ingredients.
