The Ghirardelli Square Chocolate Festival in San Francisco (annually in September) is a delicious event that’s free to attend, although you have to pay for food, wine and chocolate tasting. The free festival activities include live music, food and chocolate sampling, chefs demonstrations and ice cream sundae eating contests sponsored by Ghirardelli Chocolate Co. Proceeds from the two-day festival benefit Project Open Hand.
