Oakland Museum of California: Free Days

The Oakland Museum of California is free on the first Sunday of every month. Around since 1969, OMCA tells the story of California with the intention of providing a “museum for the people.”

SAVVY TIP: OMCA is open late on Fridays until 9 pm.

OTHER WAYS TO SAVE:

  • Active duty military personnel and their families get free admission to OMCA between Memorial Day and Labor Day as part of the Blue Star Museum Program.

  2. First Sundays… does that mean the first Sunday it is open, or the first Sunday of every month?
    If it is every month, does that include New Year’s day?

  3. Good news! Yes, the Pixar exhibit is included on free day. Bad news is that it fills up really fast. Last month there was a line formed half an hour before the museum opened. Adding this above, plus a hot tip about a half priced Groupon coming next week …
