Taste of Chicago, the city’s popular outdoor food festival (July 10 – 14, 2013) is a fav of local foodies and food-loving families. Admission is free, although the food will cost you extra, of course.
This year’s event features live musical performances from Robert Plant, R&B star Robin Thicke, and Grammy Award winner Jill Scott. Annual events include the Humana Race to Taste, a 5K Run/2-Mile Walk, and the Fleet Feet Sports Kid’s Dash.
WHAT: 2013 Taste of Chicago – Festival entry and daytime concerts are FREE. Food tickets are sold in strips of 12 for $8, large food items on average cost 10 tickets, side portions 6 tickets, ‘taste’ portions 3 tickets. Evening concert tickets sell for $25, but free seating on the lawn outside the Shell seats thousands.

SAVVY TIPS: No dogs (except service dogs), grills, canopies, and alcohol are allowed inside the festival grounds. Folding chairs are allowed, but not in the concert seating area of the Petrillo Music Shell.
